How to Become a Member

Membership in Pi Sigma Alpha takes place within each chapter. To join the Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter, undergraduate students must meet the following criteria:

  • completion of at least 60 credit hours with an overall GPA of at least 3.75 (top one third of class).
  • completion of at least 10 hours of political science coursework, including at least one upper-division course (NOTE: You do not have to be a political science major).
  • a GPA of 3.0 or higher in those political science courses.

Recruitment occurs in early February of each year. Any interested students can contact the chapter advisor, Professor Joseph Cozza at joseph.cozza@rice.edu, to request consideration for membership. The chapter advisor will also reach out to Political Science majors who qualify each year inviting them to join. Membership requires payment of the one-time national organization dues, currently set at $35.

The chapter will hold a formal induction ceremony in March/April each year where students will receive a certificate and be formally inducted into the society.
