Professor Jones's research focuses on the effect of electoral laws and other political institutions on governance, representation, and voting. He has received substantial financial support for this research, including two grants from the National Science Foundation. His recent articles have appeared in journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and Legislative Studies Quarterly. Professor Jones has conducted research on political and public policy issues in the Americas for numerous local, national and international organizations, including the City of Houston, the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, and the United States Government.
